Soccer fever

Damn, my world cup channel has not been activated yet, a couple more days and i'll missed the early bird price... stupid starhub better get it sorted out...

Mind numbing couple of days while preparing hard for my final exams, and trying to keep up with all the election news and stuff. Took some time out last nite to catch my favorite newcastle team in action, despite not winning, they effectively dumped another team out of the EPL in consecutive weeks. Pity about slumberland though, it would have been so much sweeter if they could have just held on for another week so that we can send them down to where they belong :P I love to see teams getting relegated, more so than seeing a team winning the championship, yet more often then not, I like to support the underdog... I'm such a sadistic contradicting sucker... :D

An ode to Singapore

In Singapore, the majority of us live in Highly Dangerous Buildings (HDB),
And most people have already got used to Paying And Paying (PAP).
Not only do you have to pay, you Pay Until Bankrupt (PUB).
If that is not enough, somebody still Purposely Wants to Dig (PWD) and get more from you.
So what more can you do when you are in the Money Only Environment (MOE)?
With the current Mad Accounting System (MAS), you are forced to Pay the Sum Ahead (PSA).
Which will leave some people Permantly Owing Some Banks (POSB).
And forced to live on the Loan Techniques Always (LTA) system.
When you fall sick and happen to be admitted to a Money Operating Hospital (MOH),
You might be able to use your Cash Prior to Funernal (CPF) fund.
If you are out of luck, you may meet doctors who Never Use Heart (NUH) to treat you,
And you will be Sure to Give up Hope (SGH).
To help ease the traffic, motorists have to pay Cash On Expressway (COE).
If that doesn't help, they can always Eternally Raise Price (ERP) on the roads.
If you don't own a car, you can always make a Mad Rush to the Train (MRT),
OR get squashed in a bus Side By Side (SBS).
Lastly, under all these pressures, there are not many places we can relax,
Not even the good old place we used to go because it has become
So Expensive And Nothing TO See Actually (SENTOSA)!!

I'm happy when I'm feeling evil

You Are 48% Happy

You're definitely a happy person, even though you have your down moments.

You tend to get the most out of life, though there's always some more happiness to be squeezed.

How Happy Are You?

You Are 62% Evil

You are very evil. And you're too evil to care.

Those who love you probably also fear you. A lot.

How Evil Are You?

I wonder... Are they in any way related....?

Addiction

Got myself yet another tattoo again on wednesday. :) I finally decided to do a big scale 'project' that will effectively link all my tattoos together into a nice big concept instead of having them individually on various parts of the body. 'Stamp collecting' as my tatto artist calls them. That evil guy :P

Took almost an hour discussing the idea with the artist and ideas flew back and fro, fast and furiously. Which was real great and I enjoyed it, compared to many other tattoo studios that I went to that simply seems more interested in just earning your money, and do not have much of a constructive input. They basically do not care about what you do to your body, you can tell them you wanna tattoo a hello kitty next to a demonic skull and they'll tell you its a good idea and how nice it would be while showing you pictures of flash that they had used on their previous customers and be real quick to quote you a price. Although this fellow charges significantly higher than the others, I do feel more confident, not to mention comfortable, in him. I know that my concept will be unique, my design will be unique, and there is zero chance that there will be anyone in singapore or even the world that will have a similar tattoo as mine. (maybe bits and pieces but definately not overall :P) What price can you put on your skin? Money can always be earned back easily, but a tattoo is not easy to reverse.

Almost forgot how painful it was and almost jumped when the needle first entered my skin. Took a while to get used to it and the slow numb trobbing continued for the next two hours. A new artist this time, a new design, a new concept. But the addiction remains. Can't wait for the next session. With exams round the corner and cash flow running low, can't exactly do as much or as fast as I would have liked. Hopefully can get the whole thing done by the end of this year. That'll be a nice xmas present for myself. :)

Question of the day

In reading the following articles in the papers today, firstly, the comments by PAP's Mr Wong Kan Seng that 'Opposition has done little to benefit Singaporeans'and the follow up article(which incidently was hidden in a corner of the papers with no big font titles or picture unlike the former article) 'Opposition MPs defend their record in Parliament', the first thought that came to mind was

"Can the opposition sue the PAP for defamation?"

Wouldn't it be interesting to see if and how the court will handle it?

What is the likelihood that it is all a big plot/bait so that the PAP can somehow turn it around and counter sue the opposition, driving them to bankruptcy, making them unable to run for elections, and thus getting a clean sweep of all wards?

I love politics :)

Why?

- Why is everything I do nowadays is wrong?

- Why is it that the same thing, when done by someone else is deem nice and sweet, but when I am the one doing it, it is expected of me?

- Why is it so difficult to show some appreciation for the things I do?

- Why do you always like to compare?

- Why can't you just accept and love me like the way you did when we first met?

- Why do I feel that we are drifting further and further apart? Are we really so comfortable with each other that we don't even bother to talk anymore cos we expect each other to understand what we want or think?

- Why is it that I feel that you are no longer putting in any effort in this relation?

- Why is it that despite all these, I never once thought of ending this relation....

Some just don't get it

With the elections drawing closer, its kinda funny in a way to see the ruling party and the various government departments falling over themselves in trying to discredit the opposition. The idea of pseudo-opposition PAP MP, HDB trying to justify why opposition wards are not granted permission to upgrade lifts in estate, criticism of WP manifesto etc. It just reeks of a typical singaporean trait. Kiasuism.

I simply do not understand why the PAP needs to be so kiasu. So what if the opposition holds 2 or more seats in the parliament? Theres a total of 84 seats, 2 oppositions would make up a neligable 2.38% which could hardly make a difference when it comes to the passing of bills especially with the fact that PAP members can't vote according to their conscience anyway.

Their repeated bashing of oppositions, sometimes to the point of a bully taunting a kid in the playground, is really starting to put me off. The threat of non-upgrading to the estate, which is funded by our own money, is simply sickening. Imagine this happening in a private property sector. A property developer build 10 blocks of flats and touts them as a premium, low cost and highly subsidised flats. Each block will have a leader to represent them at the estate committee. Monthly conservation fees are collected from all residents, yet upgrades to the estate are done to only 8 blocks, leaving 2 blocks on their own, because the funds were not made available to the 2 leaders of the blocks because they tend to disagree with the other leaders on certain issues. Instead, the money collected from the 2 blocks are used to subsidise the other 8 blocks, and the committee tells you that you can only have upgrading when you replace the 2 leaders. But it so happens that these 2 leaders of the block are more capable than many of the other leaders of the 8 blocks and the people know it and thus would like to keep them to represent the blocks. The residents of these 2 blocks will probably bring the issue up to court for the unfair treatment they received, but then, does residents of opposition wards have this ability? Or as CSJ would like to lead us to believe, is the judiciary system fair and open to dissentient?

I also cannot stand the fact that the ruling party keeps asking the opposition to 'be like us'. What is the point of that then? The whole idea of an opposition is to give a different view, a different perception. If the opposition is supposed to mimic the ruling party, might as well go and set up a second party called PAP v2 or PAP reserve and as them to compete. Kaoz.

For example, when they are revealing their new faces recently, they keep asking the opposition to reveal their candidates too, for 'transparency' and 'opening them up for public scrutiny'. Hell, why should the opposition do that just because you are doing it? When they release their manifesto and you openly criticised it, even implying that some points were 'copied'. Yet when request to open up their own manifesto for scrutiny, the cocky reply was that they when do so when they feel the time is right. Arrogance, fueled no less by the power they hold in their hands. Power, that if left unchecked, may well bring down the system in a couple of generations...
